Description | This laboratory-based course accompanies GEOL 1303, Physical Geology. Laboratory activities will cover methods used to collect and analyze earth science data. | ||||||||||

Learning Outcomes |
By the end of this course you will learn to: • Classify rocks and minerals based on chemical composition, physical properties, and origin. • Apply knowledge of topographic maps to quantify geometrical aspects of topography. • Identify landforms on maps, diagrams, and/or photographs and explain the processes that created them. • Differentiate the types of plate boundaries and their associated features on maps and profiles and explain the processes that occur at each type of boundary. • Identify basic structural features on maps, block diagrams and cross sections and infer how they were created. • Demonstrate the collection, analysis, and reporting of data. |

Instructor Policies | Tests and quizzes are set up for you to take them in one sitting. Please do not plan to take it in various stages. You will only be able to see one question at a time. Once the test is opened, whether you even get to the questions or not, the computer will save it upon you leaving, and consider you finished. It won't let you in for a second try. The time limit is similar to the in-house tests (one hour for tests, 30 minutes for lab quizzes). Please study/prepare for tests as if you were taking a pencil and paper test, with another class coming in at the end of the hour. | ||||||||||
Attendance Policy | Attendance will be completed by turning in labs and quizzes | ||||||||||
